Position Summary: Oversees and coordinates the activities of facility/ building maintenance, maintenance planning, ordering, and inventory management. Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of production equipment involving electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs workers in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Initiates preventive maintenance on equipment to avoid production down time.
  • Ability to give and receive direction, work with a team, be self motivated to work independently, and have a flexible schedule to support on-going production demands.
  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts.
  • Modifies programming of robots and related equipment such as robot controllers and programmable controllers.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Schedules activities of workers supervised.
  • Provides training to ensure individuals have the requisite skills.
  • Directly supervises one employee in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with CNC Equipment and fabrication skills.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing software.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear, frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and occasionally required to stand; walk, climb or balance; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work schedule for this classification is full-time. Incumbents must work a full-time (30) hours or more per week schedule.
