What are the responsibilities and job description for the LGS Safety Coordinator TPA position at LGSTX Services Inc?
Job Summary: Coordinates and oversee safety compliance with applicable laws and company practices for the assigned location.
Job Duties:
- Monitors operational methods to ensure that safety is a top priority and makes recommendations on improvements and/or training to management.
- Conducts safety audits/observations and reports the findings and recommendations to the Regional Safety Manager, Corporate Safety Manager, and operations management Team for any needed corrective or preventative action.
- Develops and coordinates the delivery of safety training classes.
- Trains and coaches the Operational Leadership Team in identifying and addressing risky behaviors.
- Ensures management is aware of applicable laws and best practices. Reports potential hazards and follows up to ensure their reduction/elimination.
- Conducts accident investigations (Interviews injured employees and witnesses, inspects the facilities and equipment involved, suggests corrective or preventative actions) and follows up to ensure the corrective or preventative actions have been implemented.
- Takes primary ownership of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program, which includes Hazard Identification, prevention, and Elimination of the hazard, Walking-Working Surfaces Risk Assessment, PPE Assessment, 6S, and Emergency Response Program.
- Ensures the information provided from the Snapshot and Near Miss Program will be used to track the performance of Supervision but will also be used to identify potential hazards in the work areas and develop safety bulletins, safety briefings, and training programs.
- Constantly reinforces proper ergonomics to minimize injuries, along with stricter adherence to appropriate PPE.
- Leads the Behavior-Based Safety Program, which includes safety observations, positive reinforcement, feedback mechanisms, and recognition through intangible rewards.
- Updates safety programs and policies to OSHA standards and maintain OSHA Logs.
- Partners with Human Resources and Operations to assist with workers' compensation tasks such as light-duty letters and modifications and returning to work.
- Coordinates safety communications, updates, and necessary training for employees. Recommends regular safety tips and talks to management for staff meetings.
- Tracks safety metrics and rates.
Job Requirements:
- Able to work multiple shift (Day or night) schedules as needed.
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, FAA, FAR, DOT, CFR 40 & CFR 49, and applicable sections of the state regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
- The ability to always represent the company in a professional manner.
- Must have basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn relevant company software programs.
