What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Accountant position at LHH?
The Tax Accountant will be responsible for ensuring tax filing compliance in the US, including income tax, property tax, sales and use tax, and other tax compliance requirements. This role also supports our management team with tax-related issues.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file state and local tax returns (income/franchise, sales/use, excise/commercial activity, and property tax).
- Prepare analysis and ensure timely filing of estimated payments and extensions for states.
- Prepare corporate annual reports.
- Respond to state notices and audits.
- Manage the tax compliance calendar and sales exemption certificates.
- Assist with R&D interviews and prepare supporting documents.
- Prepare the annual income tax provision for US entities.
- Keep up to date with state legislative developments.
- Research and analyze state and local tax issues and regulations.
- Provide support for other miscellaneous projects within the accounting department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
- Master’s degree in tax or related field preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of tax experience, preferably in State and Local Tax Compliance.
- Strong MS Office skills required (especially Excel).
- Knowledge of tax filing programs (OneSource/Go Systems) and tax research software is a plus.
- Exposure to Sage Fixed Assets is a plus.
