What are the responsibilities and job description for the Online Spanish Tutor position at Liberty University?
Job Summary/Basic Function
The Online Spanish Tutor will work for the Online Foreign Language Lab (OFLL) to provide Spanish tutoring services for LUO students. His or her primary responsibilities will include hosting Spanish conversation tutoring sessions, as well as offering Spanish writing and grammar tutoring services, via WebEx. The tutor will also administer recorded final oral assessments for the LUO Conversational Spanish courses and email the recordings directly to the appropriate professors for evaluation. Additionally, he or she will maintain accurate and timely records of all tutoring sessions, actively communicate with students, and uphold open communication with supervisors and professors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Primary Responsibilities (70%)
a. Provide Spanish tutoring services for LUO students
b. Host Spanish conversation tutoring sessions via WebEx
c. Offer Spanish writing and grammar tutoring services
d. Provide recorded final oral assessments for the LUO Conversational Spanish courses and email them to the professors
2. Additional Responsibilities (30%)
a. Work with appointment schedules and scheduling system
b. Maintain accurate and timely records of all tutoring sessions
c. Actively communicate with students when information is missing from the appointment request form
d. Uphold open communication with supervisors, students, and professors
3. Remain abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks
4. Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission

A high school diploma and native or near native speaking and writing ability in Spanish are required. However, a letter of recommendation from one of Liberty University’s Spanish professors is acceptable.

- Self-motivated, dependable, and independent worker
- Experienced in leadership
- Capable of following written and verbal directions
- Works well and effectively communicates with students, faculty, and staff
- Native Spanish speaker
- Previous experience tutoring Spanish language learners
- Educated in a native Spanish-speaking environment
