Purpose

The objective of the Manager is to manage, plan and coordinate the workforce engaged in the construction, operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of electric distribution overhead, underground, substation, system protection systems and associated equipment to ensure safe, efficient and uninterrupted service to our customers.

Accountabilities

  • Oversee the day to day activities for northern New Hampshire operations, support field supervisors to assure compliance and complete assigned work.
  • Assists in the development of monthly and year to date performance against the work plan and budget goals. Develop and effectively manage a various number of distribution performance and efficiency metrics. Assist in the development of policies, procedures, plans and training requirements for operating, maintaining and improving the electric infrastructure. Provide support and leadership to the team ensuring quality of deliverables while inspiring others to succeed.
  • Work in conjunction with the Operations Coordinator, Resource Planning and other internal stakeholders to schedule work in a productive and efficient manner.
  • Provide support on electronic field work management processes. Schedule, coordinate and/or conduct a variety of training sessions including safety, environmental, new work practices, and new equipment.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees and members of the public and ensures regulatory compliance for department activities. Oversee employee compliance with DOT regulations. Enforce Clearance & Control Rules and act as local control authority as required. Oversee Vegetation Management requirements for all operating areas in NH, support Program Manager to assure targets are met.
  • Respond to regular and off-hour emergency outages by working with Dispatch Control when required; take appropriate steps to restore equipment and power in a timely manner. Respond to customer or PUC inquires and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Enforce labor agreements and resolve differences at the department level and administer Company policies such as Positive Discipline and Paid for Time Work. Be available for an On Call rotation for part or all of the NH operations.
  • Perform Storm role, Operations Chief, Aid the Director in meeting annual SAIDI/SAIFI goals. Fill in as required to perform Overhead, Underground, Substation, or Meter Department supervisory roles. May be required to perform physical work during emergency situations as required.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of Ten years of related Electric Operations experience required. Must be experienced with all common operations equipment and methods (buckets, derricks wire pulling operations, pole climbing and framing).
  • Must have direct experience with a collective bargaining unit and enforcing forms of discipline.
  • Prior management experience with leading, coaching and motivating staff required.
  • Strong knowledge of the theory and practical application of electrical principles related to construction and maintenance of distribution, distribution supply, substation facilities, equipment and material requirements, OSHA and National Electric Code Safety standards, environmental/hazardous material handling, and local ordinances required.
  • Previous experience in implementing Company policies, procedures, budget process and working with collective bargaining labor agreements.
  • Ability to work off-hours and on-call rotations, and the ability to travel outside the Division for emergency assignments and work other shifts as necessary to meet business needs required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) particularly in Excel required.
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to provide strategic solutions to complex problems required.
  • Ability to manage meeting stringent deadlines and ensure staff understands priorities, level of effort and time constraints collaboration.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Ability to accurately interpret maps, specification sheets, prints, schematics, diagrams and instructional information to construct, maintain and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills including active listening.
  • Valid driver's license with safe driving record required.
  • Must qualify for Liberty Utilities Clearance & Control Authorized List and pass Local Control Authority test
