Job description
Bureau of Prisons, Life Connection Program, has an opening for a Transition Coach who provides life skills and faith-based reentry coaching for inmate participants. The Transition Coach will develop programs and seminars, facilitate goal setting, provide information on jobs in the community, and provide counseling for transition. The Transition Coach will also make Inmate Skills Development entries on the computer. This is a multi-faith program, so the contractor will be expected to foster relationships with a broad variety of religious communities including but not limited to Protestant, Catholic, Muslim, Jewish, Pagan, Buddhist, etc.
SCHEDULE:
The schedule is usually M-Friday 7:30 to 3:30 and may include some evening hours based on program needs. Due to the nature of the correctional setting, delays in performance of work may be experienced. Such delays may include but are not limited to inclement weather, electrical or mechanical problems, or other security matters. Hours may not exceed 30 hours in any given week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a clergy ordination certificate or like document showing they are a recognized clergy or spiritual leader in good standing with their faith community.
- Must have a minimum of three years of continuous, full-time experience as a minister with their faith community.
- Should possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in religious studies, religious education, spiritual direction, psychology/counseling, criminology or related course of study recognized by a US Recognized Accrediting Organization under the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (chea.org).
- Should have experience with computer-based report writing and record-keeping. Additionally, must show proof of a certificate or enrollment in an online program that leads to an Excel Certificate.
- Prior work in a correctional setting is preferred.
Prefer a combination of education and experience, and a general working knowledge of various religious traditions.
The candidate must submit a resume and photocopies of documents evidencing education and training.
Also, submit two personal references (letters preferred) and one letter of endorsement from your local religious organization.
