Summary
Summary The Fellows will receive clinical experience by rendering professional medical services to patients in the inpatient and/or outpatient office setting. Will develop diagnostic skills by observation, instruction, lecture and independent study. The med/surg fellows will also receive surgical experience by assisting and performing surgical procedures in the general and outpatient surgical center.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Fellows will develop diagnostic skills by observation, personal instruction, lectures, and independent study. Fellows will work primarily in the office and outpatient clinics, and, to a lesser degree. Fellows will carry out his/her clinical duties so that patients receive safe and proper treatment promptly and efficiently. The Fellows will maintain accurate, complete, up to date medical records for all patients. The Fellows will interview, examine, review x-rays and other diagnostic tests, and make diagnoses for patients in collaboration with the physician. Adheres to all Department and Hospital infection control and safety policies.
The fellow will not engage in unethical or fraudulent conduct that discredits the Hospital or Department or compromises the quality of care rendered to patients. Participates in community service initiatives, such as specialty screenings. Displays an understanding and awareness of, and performs all duties in accordance with, the Department's and Hospital's Mission and Vision Statements. Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Identifies training and development opportunities for self and by Program Director. Attends the monthly Departmental Grand Rounds. The Fellows will present case studies during Resident conferences with the approval of the Program Director.
Requirements:
BLS, Current MD licensure.
