JOB TITLE:          Purchasing Manager


REPORTS TO:      VP Operations/COO


FLSA STATUS:       Exempt


JOB SUMMARY

Purchasing Manager will provide leadership, coordinate purchasing activities and ensure vendor compliance with company’s purchasing policies and guidelines to obtain the best possible combination of price, quality and service for both LHB manufacturing facilities. This position will work closely with the Sales, Quality, Production, Shipping, Receiving and Warehousing departments to help ensure inventory availability and smooth flow of supplies & raw materials through the Supply Chain. Demonstrates and promotes LHB’s values.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

·     Provides leadership and helps develop and implement company purchasing strategies and policies.

·     Establishes and maintains vendor relationships while negotiating for best possible price. Routinely evaluates vendor performance.

·     Ensures vendor compliance with customer specifications.

·     Ensures proper expediting of material to meet company needs and benefit inventory turnover.

·     Prepares contracts, issues POs in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions.

·     Maintains all purchasing documents including vendor and parts files.

·     Creates bids and maintains bid files for government and commercial customers.

·     Works with Sales and understands production scheduling process to help set PAR levels for finished goods and raw materials to ensure uninterrupted production and finished goods availability.

·     Works with vendors to reduce lead times and optimize purchasing and receiving processes.

·     Drives continual improvement/excellence in purchasing and planning operations.

·     Provides accurate and timely reports detailing the effective functioning of the purchasing department.

·     Supports company mission and demonstrates company values in all aspects of their work performance.

·     Actively engages in mentoring and development of direct reports.

·     Performs other related duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE:

·     Strong purchasing knowledge in support of manufacturing goods; particularly aerosol and liquid filling, and medical kit packaging.

·     An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

·     Sound analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus.

·      A highly organized, and self-directed individual.

·     An excellent communicator who relates to people at all levels of an organization and is skilled at negotiations and forming true partnerships with vendor.

·     Committed to development of subordinates, willing to share information and serve as a mentor.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·     Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

·     Proven track record with 2 years’ experience in a purchasing role at a complex manufacturing company with annual revenues of 25 million.

·     Experience with procurement of medical and surgical supplies and/or chemical raw materials preferred.

·     Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software (Microsoft NAV preferred).

·     


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises 2 purchasing associates.

o Hires, trains, motivates, and manages team.

o Schedules, organizes, and assigns projects to members of team.

o Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

o Manages discipline and termination of assigned staff in accordance with organization policy.



LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

·     Certifications in Purchasing/Supply Chain Management preferred.
