What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead RN Clinical Informatics Specialist - MIS - Development position at Lima Memorial Health System?
Functioning within the Health Systems mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures, the Lead Clinical Informatics Specialist, is responsible for providing Clinical Leadership and Informatics expertise to the Clinical Informatics Team. Serves as an Informatics resource and leads workflow improvement and monitoring. Works with the Director to develop project plans, estimating time requirements, establishing deadlines and monitoring milestone completion. Meets with the CIT team regularly to review project deliverables and deadlines. Assists with delegating projects and monitors those projects. Is capable of serving as a spokesperson and team leader of the CIT team. Finds solutions that are supportive of the end user, ensuring adoption and directing implementation. Leads process workflow redesign and utilizes gap analysis to identify workflow impact. Orients, on-boards and trains new Clinical Informatics team members. The Lead Specialist is proficient, professional, and has the skills to implement effective technology and information best practices using Meditech 6.1X and other third party software. Uses knowledge and experience in a self-directed approach to assist in developing and implementing computer application solutions, which includes evaluating functionality of information systems and department workflow processes and identifying and assisting in the resolution of issues in conjunction with the Director, Clinical Informatics Team and Development Analysts. Participates in and contributes to the management and processing of data, information and knowledge of clinical informatics. Assists with analysis and design of processes related to development, implementation and optimization of electronic data systems. Serves as a professional clinical liaison to all areas impacted by clinical documentation and data management. Through familiarity with the function and process of the practices, this position leads the analysis, design, implementation and education of the providers, nurses, and other clinical staff for the use of the PCM, PCS, ORM, EDM and EMR applications at LMHS while working to maintain and/or improve patient safety and clinical workflow. Additionally, this position will assist in the oversight of process re-design of the clinical modules of Meditech in order to support the application rollout and ongoing support of the provider and clinical support practice staff with electronic documentation. Cross training with all Informatics Specialist roles is required. Additional duties as assigned.
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN required.
Licensure/Certification: Hold a valid, unrestricted license with the Ohio Board of Nursing
Experience: RN with a minimum of five years’ clinical experience. Experience with building dictionaries and functionality in the current PCM preferred.
Skills: Ability to work with a variety of departments and diverse stakeholders is required. Must be analytical,
resourceful, detail-oriented, organized, quick and adaptable and possess strong communication and negotiation
skills. Must be able to juggle competing demands and deal with interruptions.
