SUMMARY:
The Food Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all Food Safety standards by ensuring all documentation, records, and Food Safety issues are logged and documented accurately.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform maintenance on daily company-wide Food Safety records, logs, manuals, and associated documents; also supports collecting and recording data on Food Safety inputs such as temperature, chemical usage, miscellaneous variables, etc.
- Keep up with current trends and changes affecting Food Safety and work with the Food Safety Manager and compliance to develop, recommend, implement, and maintain programs to ensure changing governmental compliance.
- Train packinghouse and farming employees and affiliated growers on Food Safety requirements; monitor CP Operators/employees through periodic reviews and continuous coaching. Ensure the Managers, Supervisors, and Employees are enforcing the Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Work with the FS Manager, LPH, Farming personnel, and Sales team in areas of inspection coordination, testing requirements, and ensuring practical compliance with all Food Safety requirements for Limoneira Company and affiliated growers.
- Ensure the effectiveness of environmental testing equipment used and manage weekly Maximum Residue Level sampling for all fruit managed and marketed.
- Work with the Company and affiliated agencies (public and/or private) to coordinate and ensure that the Company is in compliance with the social audit requirements.
- Work with the Food Safety Manager and compliance to manage the development and maintenance of the Food Safety Program
- Assist and coordinate scheduling of the annual Food Safety audits as required and/or requested by management or customers; assist the Manager during audits; implement and complete a follow-up action plan on corrections discovered during routine inspection and audits.
- Monitor the Azzule SCP Platform, assist with completing customer requests in a timely manner for Food Safety documents, and verify the request is complete and accurate.
- Oversee practices and policies in the areas of inspection, coordination, and testing requirements.
- Ensure practical compliance with all Food Safety requirements for the Limoneira Company and best-efforts compliance by affiliated growers/packinghouses.
- Ensure compliance by all employees of all Safety, Food Safety, Plant, State, OSHA, EPA, CDFA, FDA, HACCP, and GFSI rules and regulations.
- Visual verification of control point operators, food safety officer, and food safety administrator throughout the workday.
- Coordinate and implement other projects as directed by Food Safety Manager/Management
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must have a degree from a university in the field of Agriculture or a related area of study or equivalent; a minimum of five (5) years experience in agricultural production, packaging and/or sales or equivalent; Must have an understanding of knowledge/Certifications such as GAPs, GMPs, HACCP Food Production, Produce Rule, PCQI, and Microbiological Testing; must have a valid California drivers’ license and be able to be insured by carrier.
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be computer literate and able to utilize multiple software programs; must be able to read, comprehend, and follow instructions in English; must be fluent in Spanish for training employees; must be able to communicate openly and be clear and understandable when communicating verbally and/or in writing; must have a complete understanding of general office procedures and practices; must be able to adapt to changing standards on a routine basis; must provide leadership and guidance to employees

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
