What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crime Victim Advocate position at Lincoln County?
The Lincoln County District Attorney's Office is looking to add a Crime Victim Assistant to their team to help members of our community when they need it most. The person in this role will provide services and advocacy to victims of crime.
Provide direct services to victims and witnesses of crime, with emphasis on Domestic Violence:

Minimum Education Level
High School Diploma / GED
Specifics: 2 years college course work in the criminal justice, law enforcement, social science, social work, or related field.
Minimum Experience Level
One year
Specifics: experience advocating for others.
Substitution Note: Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the above-described duties as determined by the County.
Certifications
Specifics: Ability to obtain SVAA Certification within 1st year of employment, training provided through department.
Driver’s License
Oregon Driver's License required within 30 days of hire.
Desirable Qualifications: Crisis Intervention Certificate preferred. 2-3 years experience with advocacy and good working knowledge of the criminal justice system. Bilingual and/or bicultural competencies desirable.
Knowledge of:
- Business English and composition, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
- Legal terms and phrases.
- Procedures and policies of District Attorney's office and relationship of department with the courts, attorneys, police agencies, governmental agencies, and the general public.
- Confidentiality rules in criminal justice and victim assistance fields.
Skill or ability to:
- Remain calm under pressure.
- Establish and maintain healthy boundaries between self and clients.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Make decisions independently in accordance with established policies.
- Use initiative and judgment in carrying out tasks and responsibilities with only general instructions and guidance while in high-stress situations and under conditions that can be considered dangerous.
- Convey information, ideas, and facts both orally and in writing to supervisors, colleagues, and individuals, inside and outside the county, using language and a format the audience will best understand.
- Utilize computers and other technology to communicate in written and verbal forms (e.g., word processing, texts, emails, spreadsheets, department-specific software).
- Effectively relate well with others, including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the county. Develop and exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and maintain constructive professional working relationships.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. how up to work on time, and follows instructions, policies, and procedures. Meet productivity standards, deadlines, and work schedules.
