Position DescriptionAs a member of the department leadership team of the Information Services Department (ISD), the Department Business Manager leads several strategic and administrative functions, reporting to the Chief Information Officer. The primary functions of the ISD Department Business Manager are Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Space Planning, Contract Management, Training and Communications.  Financial management responsibilities include preparing and managing a large IT operations and investment budget, as well as presenting the budget to department and laboratory leadership. Budget responsibilities include monthly analysis, reporting, and tracking variances of actual costs to planned budget targets.  The Business Manager acts as a HR liaison for all staff related personnel matters.  Including, but not limited to hiring support, wage and salary reviews, staff performance evaluations, and handling of personnel performance issues for ~ 190 exempt, support and service staff.  Business Administration, Client Software and Training and Communication teams report to the Department Business Manager, a total of 9 direct reports.  In addition to primary duties, the Business Manager supports the Chief Information Officer in a multitude of essential department level assignments such as planning and organizing all-team meetings, coordinating major procurements for Sr. Leadership, managing the Apprenticeship Program, serving on the Space Utilization Board, updates Continuity of Operations Plan and Emergency Action Team related documents, Diversity & Inclusion Champion, and supports Service Providers Monthly Update meetings. The Business Manager performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Management or equivalent, MS / MBA preferredMinimum 8 years of progressive financial, management, and / or human resources experienceStrong ability to manage budgets, people and planningAbility to transform personnel data and financial data into concise information for senior leadership decision-makingExceptional judgment and discretion with regard to protecting sensitive personal information Ability to work collaboratively with othersAdvanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Excellent verbal and written communication skills Working knowledge and understanding of Lincoln Laboratory policies and procedures desired, but not requiredSAP proficiency desired, but not requiredAt MIT Lincoln Laboratory, our exceptional career opportunities include many outstanding benefits to help you stay healthy, feel supported, and enjoy a fulfilling work-life balance.
