Garden Shop Manager

Basic Function - To guide the day-to-day operations of the Garden Center

• Planning & Managing sales and customer service
• Training employees
• Scheduling & Delegating duties to Garden Shop Associates
• Ordering, Receiving and Stocking inventory
• Maintaining displays
• Plant & Tree care (watering, pruning, moving, etc.)
• Supervising store shifts
• Ensuring company Labor Guidelines and company Policies/Procedures are followed
• Operating the cash register including daily shift balancing and deposits
• Working/planning with Operations Manager & Owners

GENERAL DUTIES

• Overseeing the management of live and hard goods inventory. This includes purchasing, plant maintenance, and sales management.
• Provide leadership, training and direction to staff. This includes manual labor working with plant materials and customers.
• Work as a team with other managers to ensure the store is operating efficiently based on company guidelines
• Balancing the cash drawers and daily sales receipts
• Create bi-weekly schedule
• Ensure plant and tree health with proper care and placement
• Ability to drive heavy equipment (e.g., skidsteer & loader. We will train if necessary.)

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• MUST possess moderate Plant (native, annuals, perennials, trees, etc.) knowledge and willingness to learn about plants, landscaping and gardening
• Possess high-level organizational, efficiency, and management skills
• Able to communicate clearly and calmly with customers, staff and management
• Experienced with point-of-sale (POS)/Cash Register systems
• Resolve complaints and problems as they arise from customers and staff
• General math & moderate computer skills
• Able to lift up to 40lbs.
• Able to stoop and bend repeatedly for several hours
• Able to work outdoors in all types of weather
• Minimum 2-years Retail Management experience
• Must have positive presence and strong desire to interact with colleagues in a team-oriented environment
• Committed to the highest standards of customer service
• Possesses excellent verbal and written communication

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
