JOB SUMMARY:
The housekeeper is responsible for the delivery of housekeeping services to residents at the community. You must coordinate and
communicate with all housekeeping and other team members in maintaining the service for each resident. Assume cleaning
responsibilities for all residences and common areas on a scheduled basis. Keep all areas of the community clean, neat, attractive,
and safe for residents, guests and team members at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
1. Resident Apartments
a. Weekly
i. Change and wash Bed Linen (linen delivery) (if applicable)
ii. Dust Furniture throughout apartment
iii. Vacuum / mop
iv. Empty Wastebaskets & change out trash bags
v. Pick up clothing, etc. throughout apartment (if applicable)
vi. Do laundry (wash, dry, return)
vi. Clean and Sanitize Bathroom and Kitchenette:
1. Clean toilet bowl, sinks and counters
2. Tub and shower doors (if applicable)
3. Mirror(s)
4. Mop floor
5. Clean towels and washcloths
6. Wash and dry dirty dishes and put away (if applicable)
7. Leave supply of toilet tissue (if applicable)
b. Monthly
i. Defrost Freezer (if applicable)
ii. Clean inside windows
iii. Sweep down cobwebs
iv. Review apartments for repairs and maintenance needs and then report to Environmental Services Director or
Lead Housekeeper
2. Common Areas – including lobbies, halls, stairs, elevators, landing areas, activity and/or game room, television room, dining room,
model units, public bathrooms, guestrooms, etc. (not including kitchen.)
a. Daily - areas as specified by community Environmental Services Director or Lead Housekeeper (Including: ).
i. Dust Furniture
ii. Vacuum
iii. Wash Windows
iv. Maintain a neutral and pleasant odor
b. Daily - public restrooms - to be cleaned and sanitized as described above in resident bathroom.
c. Weekly - areas specified by community Environmental Services Director, Lead Housekeeper or Executive Director.
3.Thorough cleaning of vacant apartments and readying them for occupancy (vacant apartments should also be cleaned on the
regular weekly schedule).
4. Maintain housekeeping cart in a clean and orderly manner.
5. Keep a linen and cleaning supplies inventory. Notifying community Environmental Services Director or Lead Housekeeper when
items will need to be ordered (giving supervisor at least a two-week order time).
6. Monitor and notify the Environmental Services Director or Lead Housekeeper of maintenance problems.
7. Comply with all government laws, regulations and all company policies regarding the cleaning and sanitizing of the facility
(including waiver and DHS policiies).
8. Follow safe guidelines for the use of specific chemicals, must know where SDS binders are kept and how to read SDS sheets.
9. Request additional guidance, training, and support as necessary to make your work with each resident reach their full potential for
a safe, healthy and meaningful lifestyle in the Community. Participate in all required training, orientation, meetings, and programs
offered by employer.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or other management staff.
REQUIREMENTS (include but not limited to):
1. Must be able to relate to the elderly in a positive manner.
2. Must be able to easily lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
3. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, and/or bend for periods of up to eight hours.
4. Routinely performs duties in a safe and conscientious manner.
5. Must be familiar with cleaning supplies and/or chemicals and their uses.
6. Knowledge of professional cleaning equipment and supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed
below are representative of knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
1. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE – High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one (1) year related experience
preferred and/or training in direct service with older adults, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and E-mail (Microsoft Outlook or Exchange preferred but not
required). Basic typing skills essential. Knowledge on how to use a mouse, printer, scanner, and fax machine is required.
In accordance with state law, may need to possess current state certification and follow regulations to maintain license
currency. One-year experience in direct service with older adults and knowledge of dementia particularly of the
Alzheimer’s type is helpful.
2. LANGUAGE SKILLS – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Short correspondence and memos. Ability to
write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to
residents, residents’ families, and other employees of the company. Ability to effectively communicate in English and
understand and follow written and oral instructions.
3. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals.
4. REASONING ABILITY- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral
instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Uses good
judgment in emergency situations and gets help when needed.
5. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS – Basic CPR/First Aid training preferred. Participates in monthly and annual inservice
sessions.
6. PHYSICAL DEMANDS- The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to

frequently exposed to blood borne pathogens. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and toxic or caustic
