Job Summary:
Linfield University is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Admission Counselor to join the enrollment services team. This role is vital in developing and implementing programs aimed at enrolling new undergraduate students. As a face of the university, the Admission Counselor will travel extensively, particularly within the Western states, representing Linfield University and connecting with prospective students, families, and educational partners. This position requires significant autonomy and judgment in managing recruitment strategies, providing individual advising, and reviewing applications through a holistic process.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Student Recruitment: Plan and manage recruitment strategies for assigned geographic regions. This includes managing data in the university's CRM, coordinating prospective student contact, conducting group presentations, and reviewing applications.
- Travel and Outreach: Travel regularly to high schools, community colleges, and college fairs across the Western United States. This includes attending evening and weekend events and representing Linfield at various promotional events such as STEM, MEChA, AVID, and College Possible.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Assist in building multicultural diversity in the student body, with a focus on underrepresented students.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as athletic coaches, financial aid, and student life, to recruit students and meet their needs.
- Recruiting Goals: Meet departmental recruiting goals and contribute to the development of recruitment programs and events.
- Program Coordination: Assist in planning and organizing campus events, including open houses and student receptions.
- Campus Engagement: Stay informed about Linfield's academic programs, student life, and extracurricular activities to effectively communicate the university's offerings to prospective students.
- Professional Development: Attend conferences and training seminars as needed to stay current on trends in student recruitment and admissions.
Work Schedule: M-F 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; frequent weekends and evenings; some adjusted schedules for evening calling.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience:
- Proven experience in customer service, public speaking, and group presentations.
- Experience working with diverse cultures.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate the benefits of a liberal arts education.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, CRM, and other software applications.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for travel purposes.
- Ability to travel 40% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
This position is considered light work, with physical demands that include frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. The role also requires travel, including exposure to weather conditions.
