Position Summary:
The Quality Control Receiving Clerk within our fresh produce repacking facility is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of incoming fresh produce by conducting inspections, maintaining records, and adhering to company quality standards. This role is integral to upholding quality standards and supporting the efficient processing of fresh produce through the facility. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive in identifying quality issues. In addition, this role plays a crucial part in maintaining the integrity of the supply chain, working closely with warehouse, quality, and procurement teams to ensure the highest product quality from the time it arrives until it reaches the repacking lines. Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 1 year in quality control, inspection, or receiving within the food industry (fresh produce experience is a plus) - Preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant certification in food safety or quality assurance is an asset.
Full-time; Monday thru Friday with some Saturday work required
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work in cold storage environments and lift/move up to 50 lbs. as required.
Proficiency in data entry and familiarity with inventory management systems.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and Inspection:
Inspect incoming produce shipments for quality, freshness, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Document and report any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues to the Quality Control Supervisor and appropriate departments.
Verify produce counts, weights, and other measurements match purchase orders.
2. Quality Control:
Conduct visual and physical quality assessments, including checks for ripeness, texture, color, temperature, and any signs of spoilage.
Record and monitor quality indicators, maintaining accurate records of inspections, test results, and other relevant data.
Implement quality control procedures and enforce sanitation standards within the receiving area.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
Accurately document all received products, including batch numbers, inspection results, and any non-compliance.
Maintain and update inventory and quality control logs, ensuring data integrity for inventory management systems.
Communicate effectively with suppliers, drivers, and team members regarding discrepancies or quality issues.
4. Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to food safety, workplace safety, and sanitation standards within the receiving area.
Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, and other regulatory bodies' guidelines on food safety and quality.
Report any safety or compliance concerns promptly and contribute to corrective actions and preventive measures.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with warehouse and repacking teams to facilitate smooth transitions of high-quality produce through the production line.
Participate in team meetings and quality control training sessions to stay up to date on company procedures and standards.
Provide feedback to management on recurring quality issues and suggest possible improvements in the receiving process.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in a warehouse setting with variable temperature zones.
Flexible hours may be required to accommodate delivery schedules.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation range: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00; dependent on experience
