What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Systems Generalist (Contract Position) position at Little Sprouts, LLC?
We're seeking a skilled and experienced IT Generalist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess diverse technical skills, expertise in Cisco Meraki and Microsoft: Intune, Azure, 365, Deployment Tool configuration, and a strong foundation in IT Systems Engineering and support. The candidate should maintain relevant industry certifications, including but not limited to an A , Microsoft Certified Professional, and CCNA, and have at least five years of hands-on working experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive IT Engineering support, maintaining system integrity, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our IT infrastructure.
Reports To: IT Manager
Time Period: 3 months minimum with intent to renew based on performance
Location: Lawrence, MA (Boston Area), On-Site 5-days a week.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
- New user provisioning and offboarding services
- Repair and refurbish laptops
- Setup Cisco/Meraki Firewall, switches, and wireless access points
- Automate installations and implementation for provisioning new PC or software setup in a repeatable method, preferably Microsoft MDT.
- Provide technical phone or web support to end users and clients.
- Use remote support software to control end-user computers to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues.
- Assist end-users with password changes.
- Setup email on Computers and Mobile devices
- Document Resolution steps for closed tickets and notes for escalations
- Create and maintain documentation about customer networks.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly system maintenance as required.
- Monitors the ticket queue, follows up, and communicates duly with assigned tickets.
- Maintains current trends and has a high technical expertise in the field.
- Escalates more complex problems as instructed.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems or 5 years of hands-on experience and strong working knowledge of:
- Office 365 Cloud Service Suite of Applications: Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, ETC.
- Proficient in one or more programming languages
- Best practice implementation of WAN, Disaster recovery, and multi-site UC architecture.
- Cisco Meraki
- Printer Administration
- Microsoft OS: Windows 10/11
- Apple IOS
- General knowledge of JAMF Administration
- Cisco Firewalls and Switching
- Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services
- Enterprise backup software installation & administration
- Ability to install, setup, and configure new PC.
- Ability to document system changes and installation procedures.
- Ability to diagnose hardware and/or software problems.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to conduct training and informational sessions.
- Certifications including Azure, A , MCSE, and CCNA are a plus.
Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):
- A bachelor’s degree is required, and 5 years of functional experience may be a substitute
Experience Required:
- Functional (Using Skill Set): 5 years.

- Cisco Firewalls & Switching
- Meraki Wireless Access Point Administration
- Extensive experience with Disaster Recovery, including developing and implementing the architecture to support.
- Experience in troubleshooting Enterprise Applications.
- Experience with architecture and implementation of enterprise storage solutions.
- Experience with architecture and implementation of enterprise backup solutions, including physical and virtual environments and client systems.
- Experience in capacity planning and management.
- Experience supporting Windows operating systems.
The is an independent contractor role/1099 employee. Certificate of Insurance (including workers' compensation, general liability covering customer injury and errors & omissions) is required.
This is a contract role (3 months minimum) with the intent to renew based on performance.
The compensation range represents Little Sprouts’ intention for this position. Actual offers may vary based on experience, education, and other business factors.
