Position Overview:
Little Water Prep (LWP) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Facility Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our school building, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. This individual will also serve as the primary liaison between the school, our technology provider, and the landlord, ensuring all facility and technology needs are met. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the school building, ensuring a clean, safe, and operational environment at all times.
- Coordinate and supervise all repairs, maintenance, and cleaning services.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility and grounds to identify areas for improvement or repair.
- Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and codes.
- Develop and implement systems for tracking maintenance requests and scheduling repairs.
- Manage inventory and order necessary supplies for cleaning and maintenance.
Vendor and Landlord Coordination:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the building’s landlord, ensuring clear communication about any facility-related issues or repairs.
- Coordinate with external service providers (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and janitorial services) to ensure timely and effective repairs or services.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with the terms of the building lease agreement.
Technology Coordination:
- Act as the on-site liaison between the school and the external technology provider to address any IT-related issues.
- Ensure that the school's technology infrastructure (e.g., Wi-Fi, internet, classroom devices) is functioning optimally.
- Track and report tech issues to the external provider and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
- Assist staff in troubleshooting basic technology issues as needed.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure that all school health and safety protocols are being followed, including fire drills, emergency procedures, and sanitation practices.
- Keep all emergency exits clear and accessible, and ensure proper signage is in place.
Budget and Reporting:
- Assist the Operations Manager in preparing the annual facilities budget and managing expenditures related to building maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain records of all maintenance and repair work, as well as contracts and agreements with service providers.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure, with the ability to coordinate with an external tech provider.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with vendors, staff, and the landlord.
- Ability to problem-solve and remain proactive in addressing facility and technology-related issues.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in facilities management or related areas are a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a school setting or education environment.
- Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Basic troubleshooting of technology devices (e.g., computers, tablets, Wi-Fi routers).
