Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Estimating Manager to lead our estimating team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, project management, and cost control. This role involves overseeing the preparation of accurate and timely estimates for various construction projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are accounted for and aligned with company standards. The Estimating Manager will play a crucial role in building relationships with clients and subcontractors while negotiating contracts to achieve favorable terms.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the estimating team to ensure high-quality estimates are produced for all projects.
- Develop and maintain estimating processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with project managers to understand project scope and requirements.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate effective negotiations.
- Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather information necessary for accurate estimates.
- Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam for takeoffs and pricing analysis.
- Prepare reports on estimating activities, including bid results and cost trends.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating, with a focus on commercial or residential projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient in cost control techniques and contract negotiation strategies.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and safety regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in pricing and estimation processes.
- Proficient in using estimating software, including Bluebeam or similar tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
