Position Description: Journeyman Logistician
Full Time: 40 hours per week
General Duty Description and Responsibilities
The Journeyman Logistician assists the Asset manager and is responsible for the processing of all warehouse requisitions on a daily basis. Ensures all Orders are verified to identify any discrepancies and corrective action is taken prior to delivery. Ensures all items identified as unserviceable are placed into the designated warehouse location for return or disposal and all proper processes and documentation are completed and items are disposed of. Verifies that all shipments are receipted into warehouse correctly ensuring descriptions, quantities and expiration dates are annotated on receiving documentation. Conducts and or assists with monthly inventories of all items and conducts causative research on any discrepancies noted. Responsible for coordinating with the FMB Section for actual disposition merchandises once approval has been received. Responsible for maintaining appropriate files on all merchandise disposed, the reason for disposal, and the method in which disposed. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Analyzes requests to ensure items being ordered are authorized. Audits and reconciliations are conducted at the end of each transaction period to ensure the accuracy of transactions. Processes all requests for local purchases, including those for items listed within standard supply classes. Processes the manager's review file daily and reconciles all records, monthly, to ensure validity of the stock record account. Process inquiries regarding supply status. Prepares material and equipment for shipment in support of customer requirements. Responsible for coordinating the movement of inventory between shipping and the warehouse. Generally responsible for entering inventory data into the company information system. In the receiving cycle, reconcile shipping receiving reports with purchase orders to ensure that vendors deliver all necessary product in working order. In the distribution cycle, manage picking tickets for customer orders and respond to inventory queries. Additionally, receive, store and distribute inventory. In the receiving cycle, unload trucks and count inventory. Assist the Asset Manager to ensure inventory and other materials are stored in a secure location away from loading docks and assist to fulfill customer orders and place purchase requisitions for additional materials when necessary. Assist the Asset Manager ensuring proper types and amounts of supplies are available to support requirements. Reviews and updates the ASL, considering demand history, anticipated consumption, turnover rates, future requirements solicited from the customer, total package fielding, special projects, and funds availability.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years of experience in warehouse operations and management
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Knowledge of business mathematics.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- High School graduate associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have at least two (5) years of experience in performing warehousing/storage, inventory control, warehouse safety, regulations and required personal protective equipment.
- Must have at least two (5) years of experience that demonstrates working knowledge of the functions of supply automated data base systems, and ability to identify and adjust information, research and correct errors and discrepancies.
- Able to obtain a valid Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) fork-lift operator's permit (4–6-ton forklift) if required for the performance of duties for this position.
