Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Trauma Registrar - Per Diem - Trauma.

The Trauma Registrar supports the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program by focusing on data abstraction, validation, and utilization. This role aids in performance improvement reviews and collaborates with various departments involved in trauma care to ensure compliance with trauma care standards and promote patient safety.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection and Analysis
    • Coordinate and facilitate data collection, abstraction, and benchmarking of trauma registry cases.
    • Ensure data accuracy and timely submission, following NTDS and TQIP core measures.
    • Track and analyze trauma data for quality improvement, creating actionable plans based on findings.
  • Collaboration and Compliance
    • Work with clinical staff to promote accurate documentation and reporting.
    • Assist in developing and implementing multidisciplinary quality improvement plans.
    • Participate in registry validation, reviewing charts monthly, and reporting findings to TPM.
  • Performance Improvement and Program Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with ACS COT standards for the Trauma Performance Improvement Program.
    • Enter and manage performance improvement issues within the registry, maintaining closed-loop communication with TPM and TMD.
    • Conduct ongoing registry analysis to support prevention activities, research, and demographic reviews.
  • Quality Assurance and Reporting
    • Monitor and report on key indicators, such as sentinel events, complications, and adherence to protocols.
    • Ensure registry validity through custom report reviews and regular registry maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a 3-5 years experience in trauma registry or performance improvement and patient safety within trauma.

Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.

BS or MS preferred; relevant experience may substitute for an advanced degree.

Certification in CAISS and/or CSTR

Completion of STN TOPIC course within one year of employment..

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $50.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
