Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Patient Care Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive exceptional care and support throughout their healthcare journey. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a fast-paced medical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Interaction & Support
- Greet and check in patients for their appointments.
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a positive experience.
- Educate patients about office policies, available services, and post-exam care.
- Assist with patient intake forms, medical history, and pre-exam questionnaires.
2. Scheduling & Appointment Management
- Schedule and confirm appointments via phone, text, or email.
- Manage appointment follow-ups and recall reminders.
- Optimize the daily schedule to minimize wait times and maximize efficiency.
3. Insurance & Billing Assistance
- Verify insurance eligibility and coverage before patient visits.
- Explain insurance benefits, copays, and out-of-pocket costs to patients.
- Assist in processing claims and handling insurance inquiries.
- Collect patient payments and ensure accurate financial records.
4. Administrative & Office Coordination
- Maintain accurate patient records in the practice management system.
- Handle phone calls, emails, and inquiries from patients.
- Assist in ordering office supplies, contact lenses, and optical materials.
- Coordinate communication between patients, optometrists, and staff.
5. Clinical Assistance (If Applicable)
- Pre-test patients before exams (e.g., measuring visual acuity, running OCT or retinal scans).
- Assist with contact lens training for new wearers.
- Help in dispensing glasses or contacts and adjusting frames as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills (patient-facing role).
- Strong organizational skills to manage appointments and records.
- Basic insurance knowledge (vision and medical).
- Experience in healthcare administration (preferred but not required).
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with practice management software and electronic medical records (EMR).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.86 - $21.74 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 36 per week
