Controller

Lost Tree Club, Inc. is looking for our next experienced Controller to oversee the monthly financial process of the Club, providing analysis to the COO, CFO, and Department Heads. This position will oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable positions. Lost Tree Club, Inc. is a private club in a private, gated community of approximately 650 elegant single-family homes and condominiums.

Controller Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger and other accounting records.
• Establish and maintain procedure manuals for all aspects of the accounting process to ensure proper “checks and balances.”
• Prepare balance sheet and bank account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements compared to the prior year's budget for distribution to the Department Heads for review.
• Monthly financial statements with written narratives are prepared for the CFO and COO for final sign-off. Research significant variances from budget.
• Works with the CFO and all Department Heads to prepare the annual operating and capital budget for the GM, Finance Committee, and Board of Governors.
• Oversee/Assist in the coordination and preparation of all records and documents for the annual external audit.
• Timely preparation of Florida Sales & Use Tax return and payment transmission
• Process Club's bi-weekly payroll.
• Assist other accounting staff in resolving member needs/issues/concerns as needed.
• Performs other related duties as needed.

Candidate Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Effective communication skills, verbal and written
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Knowledge of financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent business degree
• 5 years of accounting experience (Golf and Country Club preferred)
• Proficient with accounting software, Microsoft Office products, and web-based programs. Jonas Software experience a plus.
