Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources Department including but not limited to employee relations, recruiting, administering pay, benefits and leave and enforcing all company policies and procedures, familiar with all labor laws. Drives and fosters a confidential and professional environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Manage full cycle recruiting process and facilitates the hiring of qualified applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings and labor plans.
- Processes pre-employment checks and employee eligibility verifications for all new hires, implements new hire orientation and facilitate new hire paperwork; file all necessary documents per Human Resources standards and audits.
- Manage employee recognition programs and employee engagement events; ensure employee satisfaction.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute Human Resource Department including but not limited to payroll, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and engagement; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, preparing and filing necessary documentation for compliance.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Maintains accurate employee records through effective data entry practices and file management for compliance.
- Provides employee support within the facility.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication, team orientation and presentation skills Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point, etc.)
Familiar with payroll systems and processes
Proficient with data entry and record keeping with high attention to detail to minimize risks
Safety and Quality oriented with a solution-oriented mindset
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Ability to problem solve with planning skills and work under high stress situations
Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance
Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
3 years as a Human Resources Generalist experience is required
Experience with HR best practices and employment laws is required
Experience and knowledge in HRIS systems is required
Experience with strategic planning initiatives is required
HR experience in a manufacturing or related industry is preferred
SHRM-CP or any other Human Resources related certifications is preferred
Physical Requirements
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to: sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time and work on a computer; regularly walk and communicate within facility. Must be comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb stairs frequently throughout each day, and do some lifting. There are times when you will need to walk throughout the manufacturing plant floor or walk between buildings, which includes but is not limited to walking outside, walking up and down stairs, walking across metal grates and potentially being in contact with slippery surfaces.
