The Loudoun County Department of General Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Public Works Technician position in the Public Works Division. The successful candidate will perform general Public Works construction and maintenance; stormwater system inspections and maintenance; sign manufacturing and installation; maintenance and repair of onsite sewer and water systems; and operation and maintenance of machinery, heavy equipment, vehicles, and tools.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience
High school diploma or equivalent with training and/or coursework related to position, supplemented by some specialized training in landscaping/grounds maintenance and Public Works infrastructure; one (1) year of experience in Public Works maintenance, landscaping or grounds maintenance, heavy equipment operation, turf management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required. A Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred for this position. The ability to hold or obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator certificate is preferred. The successful candidate will undergo criminal and DMV background record checks. A pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required for CDL holders. The successful candidate holding a CDL must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
Must possess the ability to lift 70 lbs. Must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. This position is considered essential personnel.
