What are the responsibilities and job description for the FHC Behavioral Health Office Specialist I position at Louisville Metro Government?
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORK
Under close supervision, admits and registers patients for behavioral health services at Family Health Centers (FHC). EXAMPLES OF THE WORK (These statements are intended to be illustrations of the work of this class.)
Manages appointments for multiple providers and services for multiple locations.
Answers, screens, and processes appointment requests, including logging into and answering direct and call center calls for the Behavioral Health Department.
Discusses with the FHC Program Manager for Behavioral Health Services whether patients can be added to the same-day schedule.
Obtains and enters pertinent patient demographic information and schedules patients into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Enters and verifies insurance, income, and identification of patients; updates consent forms for patients who are scheduled for Behavioral Health services.
Identifies patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and/or other communication barriers and uses appropriate interpretive services.
Documents in the EHR system and/or on forms that interpretative services were used.
Processes requests for referrals; closes and follows up on referral orders in the EHR system as needed.
Attends Behavioral Health meetings and relevant trainings.
Adheres to standard safety and infection control precautions.
Performs related work as required.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school graduation or its equivalent.
Six months of clinical/clerical experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), behavioral health setting, or other healthcare setting.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted as determined applicable by Civil Service.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Responds to patient and FHC needs via telephone, internet, fax, computer software, and in person.
Lifts and carries materials weighing up to 15 lbs., with or without assistance.
Spends extended periods of time sitting, standing, and walking.
Spends extended periods of time typing, reading computer screens, and taking telephone calls.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be available to work additional hours, including before and after the scheduled shift, as well as additional days, as necessary.
Must provide own transportation to arrive punctually to work at other FHC locations on short notice and as needed.An Equal Opportunity Employer
