Essential Functions:
Assists electricians, plumbers, carpenters and HVAC mechanics in their areas of specialty
Operates hand and power tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Cuts grass, rakes leaves and debrisExamples of Work:
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Replaces damaged materials and installs new floor tiles and carpeting
Removes, replaces and caulks glass in windows, doors and picture frames
Installs replacement locks on doors and office furniture
Mows and trims grass, cuts weeds, trims and prunes shrubs and trees, rakes leaves and debris, collects litter from outside areas, removes snow from sidewalks and public areas, and performs other grounds maintenance tasks
Observes and checks operation of moderately heavy equipment and tools for malfunctions, and services or makes minor adjustments
Lubricates and oils equipment and tools
Services and maintains automatic and manual irrigation systems
Assists electricians in connecting wiring to lighting fixtures, replacing electrical switches and relays and installing grounding leads
Assists plumbers in repairing, replacing and correcting leaks and malfunctions in sinks, commodes, bathtubs, faucets, water fountains, drains and traps
Assists carpenters in repairing holes, leaks, cracks, broken furniture, office equipment or other wooden furnishings
Completes work order forms describing repair or maintenance work performed to resolve malfunction situations
Performs related workPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 70 pounds
Lifts and carries items weighing over 70 pounds in a team setting
Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping and climbing
Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elements
Identifies work areas needing attention
Minimum Requirements:
Six months of residential or commercial building: construction, remodeling, renovation, repair or inspection; or carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or structural maintenance or repair experience
Other Minimums:
Must wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHA
Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain within 90 days of employment
KSA's:
Skill in manual dexterity
Skill in visual dexterity and acuity to manipulate levers, gauge distances and to safely use power tools
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize projects
Ability to operate equipment and tools in one or more of the specialized fields above
