What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Hydrogeologist II-III position at LRE Water?

We are looking for a creative, passionate, and organized Staff Hydrogeologist/Engineer to join LRE as a Groundwater Hydrologist and Modeler. We are looking for support primarily related to groundwater modeling projects. Additional duties may include field data collection, well drilling and construction oversight, preparation of hydrogeologic/engineering reports, and water rights evaluations. This position will be primarily located in our Denver, CO office with the option to consider alternate office locations depending on the applicant.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrogeologic conceptual models based on data from state managed databases, aquifer pump tests and published/unpublished reports.
  • Develop groundwater flow models based on the site hydrogeologic models.
  • Translate groundwater flow modeling results into graphics, figures, graphs, and other media.
  • Develop groundwater flow modeling scripts for iterative computation of model results.
  • Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples for laboratory analysis; coordinate with laboratories; and organize data.
  • Collect, manage and evaluate hydrogeologic data in support of groundwater supply and groundwater management projects.
  • Maintain exceptional client satisfaction
  • Make sound, technical, and strategic decisions that are aligned with LRE Water core values, strategic vision, and business model.
  • Meet with project team members to identify and resolve issues.
  • Prepare status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information.
  • Respond to data requests from clients, contractors, and constructors.
  • Responsible for completing work in safe manner in accordance with company Health and Safety Plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or greater in geological engineering, environmental engineering, geology, hydrology, environmental sciences, or a related field required.
  • 1 to 4 years of experience in environmental science and engineering consulting preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Experience with the following is preferred:
  • MODFLOW, MODFLOW-USG, MODFLOW 6
  • FLO-PY, Pest , and Pest-IES
  • Well drilling and construction oversight
  • GIS
  • Leapfrog and Petra
  • Data management using Python, R, or MATLAB

Total Compensation:

The starting pay range for this position is $33.65 - $40.87/hour depending upon years of experience and education. Pay is negotiable for a higher level of experience. LRE Water reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range depending on experience. LRE Water also distributes bonuses and 401(k) contributions based on annual company profitability. Employer paid benefits increase total compensation by approximately 20%. Additionally, LRE Water supports training and professional development activities for all staff and offers discretionary bonus opportunities as recognition for performance, earning a professional credential, speaking engagements or publication.

Flexible/Hybrid Work Options:

LRE Water offers a hybrid work environment that promotes flexibility for our employees and encourages work/life balance. This role will be based out of the Denver, Colorado office with the flexibility to work 1 to 3 days/week remotely. Field work may require travel, long field days, weekend work, and night work that will occasionally result in weeks with more than 40-hours of work. Mileage, expenses, and/or per diem paid for work travel.

Travel Requirements

Although rare, some travel opportunities may be available to visit satellite offices across the United States.
