Definition:Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology Services, provides system administration of enterprise applications, including database management, security, performance tuning, system integration, data migration, programming, and related duties. Promotes implementing, utilizing, and developing the District’s administrative information systems. Coordinates with college leadership and functional areas to support institutional priorities. Distinguishing Characteristics: The System Administrator II serves as the lead programmer and database administrator for the District’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system and its interfaces. It is distinguished from the Systems Administrator I by the direct responsibility for the technical design, implementation, operation, and performance of enterprise systems as well as integrity of institutional data and application security.Representative Duties: Serves as the technical expert in the area of system administration for complex integrated applications Provides support and maintenance of existing infrastructure, applications, and the development of new technical solutions Integrates appropriate technology with central enterprise systems through the design, development and support of enterprise-level services and the appropriate integration functions Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of critical enterprise applications Designs and develop processes to provide data and process integration across multiple systems Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability Performs system troubleshooting and acts as the lead on problem-solving efforts including interacting with external vendors, consultants, and support personnel. Establishes, maintains and manages user accountsPlans, coordinates, implements, and documents security measures to safeguard institutional data and protect systems from unauthorized use Monitors processes to ensure backup and recovery of critical data Coordinates and schedules routine maintenance in a manner which maximizes benefits and minimizes impacts on the institution and student service operations Clones environments, coordinates testing with functional users, and installs necessary updates Manages the operational data store (ODS) and other data repositories Translates functional specifications into system design, determines technical specifications, develops solutions, executes test plans, and ensures standards-based quality prior to deployment Utilizes existing or develops custom processes to move data between systems; provides data migration support for integration projects Maps data elements, translate data between disparate systems, and guide end users in the appropriate maintenance of data to ensure data integrity Designs, develops, and writes subroutines, computed columns, and scripts to meet college needs and user specifications Suggests, implements, and analyzes requests for enhancements to improve usability and performance Maintains awareness of technological developments in system administration of enterprise applications and makes recommendations based on this knowledge Provides procedures and conducts training sessions for technical and non-technical staff recognizing the importance of diverse perspectives Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications Acts as a backup programmer for MIS reporting, data submission/extraction, and projects Researches new technologies in the provision of solutions and consider how it respects diversity, meets social needs, and may be used in socially responsible ways Provides presentations to communicate technology initiatives to staff, faculty, and administration Works collaboratively with other technology staff to plan network infrastructure, security, load balancing, and other technical aspects to ensure sufficient resources for ERP applications Participates in technology committees, meetings, and other institutional activities Interacts with resources such as system user groups and technology organizations Maintain current knowledge of program and organizational laws, rules, regulations and policies.Serve on a variety of District committees as requested.
