Luciano’s Excavation is a family-owned excavation company based out of Taunton, MA. Luciano’s has been in business for over 12 years and has completed various multi-million-dollar projects across the New England area.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Estimator to assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for excavation projects. The ideal candidate will analyze project plans, perform quantity takeoffs, gather subcontractor and supplier quotes, and support bid preparation. Responsibilities include reviewing soil reports, estimating material and labor costs, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Proficiency in estimating software and strong analytical skills are essential. This role requires collaboration with project managers, engineers, and senior estimators to develop competitive and accurate project budgets.

Job Duties:

· Quantity Takeoff & Material Estimation – Measure and calculate excavation volumes, soil removal, backfill, and other materials needed for the project.

· Cost Estimations & Bid Preparation – Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates, including labor, equipment, and material costs, to support bid submissions.

· Site Assessments & Data Collection – Gather site data, review soil reports, and assess potential risks or challenges affecting excavation work.

· Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination – Obtain and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, hauling, and equipment rentals.

· Document Management & Compliance – Maintain and update project documentation, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, local codes, and client requirements.

· Collaboration & Reporting – Work closely with project managers, engineers, and senior estimators to review plans, adjust estimates, and track budget changes.

Essential Skills:

· Educational Background – A degree or diploma in construction management, civil engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field.

· Mathematical & Analytical Skills – Strong ability to perform calculations related to excavation volumes, material costs, and labor estimates.

· Understanding of Construction & Excavation Processes – Knowledge of excavation techniques, soil conditions, site preparation, and grading.

· Proficiency in Estimating Software – Experience with tools like Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, PlanSwift, or Excel for cost estimation and takeoffs.

· Attention to Detail & Organizational Skills – Ability to analyze project plans, review bids, and ensure accurate cost projections.

· Communication & Teamwork – Strong verbal and written skills to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors effectively.
