Reporting to the Director of Physician Revenue Cycle, the Senior Revenue Cycle Analyst (Sr. RCA) is both a transformational leader and an analyst. The Sr. RCA has an in-depth understanding of processes, workflows, policies and procedures, revenue cycle business objectives, regulatory requirements and industry best practices for patient and revenue care. The role provides analytics expertise to Faculty Practice Operations (FPO), Packard Children's Healthcare Alliance (PCHA) and different revenue cycles. The Sr. RCA is responsible for identifying and implementing transformational process changes involving the Epic system, as well as providing support for all analytics and reporting with in the revenue cycle functional areas including the extraction and analysis of data impacting the revenue cycle. This includes, but is not limited to, accounts receivable, bad debt, and payer analysis (Medicare, Medi-Cal and Commercial). Creates revenue analysis tools that are used hospital wide at all levels of the institution. This position creates workflows that identify denials and ways to minimize their financial impacts that decrease the financial burden to both patients and LPCHS. The role provides analytics support to Faculty Practice Operations (FPO), Packard Children's Healthcare Alliance (PCHA) and hospital revenue cycle. The Senior Revenue Cycle Analyst will collaborate with other key functions including Information Technology to ensure effective and efficient processes for optimal revenue cycle outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Performs complex analysis required for financial and revenue cycle performance opportunity assessments in order to identify trends, patterns and root causes.
* Strategizes ways to optimize the revenue cycle process, determines business needs, plans, and implements tactics to improve the practice management and revenue cycle activities of SCH.
* Creates and maintains revenue cycle dashboards that are utilized at all levels of the institution.
* Determines business needs, plans, and implements tactics to improve the practice management and revenue cycle activities.
* Identifies problem situations considering all perspectives in terms of scope and consequences.
* Collaborates with process owners to translate metrics to operational workflows in support of new models to be implemented.
* Consults internally as the subject matter expert on one or more process areas.
* Measures and monitors improvements in processes and practices consistent with Epic recommendations and Best of Class standards.
* Collaborates with revenue and IS Teams to establish and translate metrics to operational workflows in support of new models to be implemented.
* Develops automation and maintenance for key performance indicators (KPI) and metrics that link strategies to the measurement of performance (financial and non-financial).
* Creates and monitors models that link strategies to KPI in order to ensure successful implementation. Provides analytical expertise and develops tools for revenue cycle operations to better detect both current and future performance issues.
* Builds comprehensive reporting and analytics suites to support the hospital and physician revenue cycle teams.
* Consults with Revenue Cycle Leaders in developing business plans, establishing new services, identifying operational benchmarks and completing special projects as needed
* Develops and manipulates large data sets as well as analyzes segments and data groups to assist in the development and implementation of strategies.
* Utilizes appropriate analytical tools to extract, compile and manipulate data for purposes of analysis. Accurately collects, synthesizes and communicates timely and relevant information to support strategies.
* Extracts and compiles data from various system sources to develop sound analyses leading to potential revenue cycle opportunities. Conducts complex analyses related to charge capture, billing, and/or patient financial services.
* Researches a variety of complex and/or regulatory issues impacting revenue cycle and recommends processes to enhance financial and quality performance while meeting compliance requirements. Explores potential sources of revenue leakage identified by performance indicators and responds with data-driven initiatives to improve net revenue.
* Drives operational/financial improvements that are identified through reporting.
* Creates ad hoc reports as needed and provides ad hoc reporting requests for other constituents outside of the revenue cycle including Finance, Operations, Clinicians (School or Medicine) and others as requested.
* Collaborates with hospital revenue cycle management team, Finance Department, FPO and PCHA revenue cycle leadership to support business decision-making and performance tracking through reporting and analytics.
* Coordinate audit activities to ensure timely submission of clear, organized deliverables for meetings including analyses, summaries, etc.
* Performs research on best practices and national benchmarks in the healthcare industry revenue cycle to assist in standardization of goal setting and performance monitoring
* Participates in special revenue cycle projects such as ICD-10 implementation, Audits Analysis, Compliance Initiatives, Process Standardization, Cost Benefits Analysis and Performance Improvement Initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Experience: Six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience, including 1 year in the specialty area to which assigned.
KNOWLEDGE

These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification.

* Knowledge of business intelligence tools, specifically Business Objects, and other reporting tools.
* Knowledge of healthcare, specifically revenue cycle and finance in healthcare. Knowledge and understanding of revenue cycle and complexities of healthcare finance.
* Knowledge of Epic revenue cycle applications and underlying data structures.
* Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
* Ability to create and edit reporting and analytics, create recurring reports and build ad hoc reports
* Ability to communicate with various levels of management effectively, both orally and written
* Ability to converse on these topics and identify root cause trends to operational and finance issues
* Ability to create complex reporting across hospital and physician departments
* Skill in the use of various reporting tools including business intelligence reporting tools, MS Access, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
* Ability to communicate in different modes based on what is most effective for what is being communicated
* Skill in relating reporting and analytics to areas for improvement within healthcare revenue cycle
* Skill in marrying disparate data sources into consolidated, comprehensive reporting

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $53.98 to $71.57
