What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk position at Luis Palau Association?
The Luis Palau Association is looking for an accounts receivables and payables clerk to join our Christian nonprofit team! This person will be responsible for cash receipting duties, including donation coding, donor information updates, coordinate routing and responding to donor correspondence and requests; accounts payables duties such as processing expense reports and vendor payments; and processing outgoing mail as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- After mail is picked up from downtown, open mail, count and total contributions (accompanied by one other person during opening process)
- Code and key data into Raisers’ Edge for all contributions and pledges.
- Prepare and email daily cash receipts reports.
- Process monthly batches of EFT contributions (Credit Card and Checks), print letters, envelopes, and receipts.
- Distribute afternoon mail from street mailbox.
- Work with the Development Dept. and Accountant to serve our donors. Implement agreed upon receipting and fulfilment strategies.
Accounts Payable
- Receives and verifies expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
- Facilitates payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
- Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed.
- Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions.
- Records entry of, verifies documentation for, and distributes petty cash.
Other
- Help auditors each year with document copies, check copies and procedures.
- Process Palau Foundation donations, receipts and letters and monthly reports.
- Provide customer service to LPA staff. Serve as a resource for payables questions and help to resolve problems.
Qualifications and Skills
- Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, InfoPath, Outlook)
- Blackbaud Raisers’ Edge
- Good verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. The person in this role is required to interact and maintain good relationships with all LPA staff.
- Able to organize and prioritize work in an efficient manner.
- Able to work with minimum supervision, self-starter.
- This position will work closely with the accounting team at Palau. Work will be done at the Palau office.
- This position may require occasional light overtime, especially during the year-end season.
- Must be able to handle confidential material in a professional manner.
- Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy.
- Christian in agreement with LPA’s Statement of Faith.
- Active member of local evangelical church.
Salary : $51,000 - $70,000
