Primary Function:
Perform as the Opto-Mechanical Engineer in a dynamic, highly interactive sustaining engineering role. Foster and develop good working relationships with product team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues in creative, practical ways for support of manufactured medical devices/lasers and respective packaging.
- Exercise experience and judgment on existing products.
- Root cause analysis and resolution
- Document processes as required by Standard Operating Practices to include MFG work instructions, testing instructions, etc...
- Support selection and/or design of equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
- Interact with senior internal and external personnel.
- Normally receive little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
- Help train and give guidance to other Lumenis employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics or equivalent with 8 years of product design experience relating to optical/mechanical systems (preferably laser systems/medical devices).
- Demonstrable experience with design for manufacturability and design for manual assembly.
- Ability to work in fast paced, interactive environment
Skills/Experience Required and/or Preferred:
- Working knowledge of PLM systems/ECO process (required)
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems (required)
- Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks/3D Modeling (required)
- Strong working knowledge of optics and optical coatings (OD, filters etc.) (required)
- Laser system optical trains experience (preferred)
- Some electrical/control theory (preferred)
- Good leadership and strong interpersonal skills (required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication (required)
- Strong analytical problem solving (required)
