Job Summary:

The Estimator will research bid specifications and estimate costs of Signal, Lighting, ITS construction and services for assigned departments and projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepare Bid/Opportunity folders, including downloading project files, and setting up cloud-based ShareFile project folder(s)
• Request material and subcontractor quotes based on the customer specifications
• Analyze and select best available quotes for use in the estimating process
• Propose best Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) items, specialty products and services that meet customer specifications to department managers
• Utilize Estimating software to input cost data and generate estimate reports for use by area managers
• Prepare labor, equipment and material costs for items based on specifications
• Prepare bid documentation and submit to agency website or for standard mail service
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Heavy Bid software experience helpful
• Salesforce Software experience helpful
• Excellent in Microsoft Office Suite particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred
• Extensive signal/ITS/Lighting experience will be considered in lieu of degree

Physical Requirements: 

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
