Luna Data Solutions has an immediate short term contract position opening (contract term approximately 1 to 2 months, with possible extension) for a Desktop Support Technician resource with our public sector industry client located in Bay City, TX. *This is a 100% onsite position.
Role: Desktop Support Technician
Role Description:
This resource performs desktop support technical work related to all information technology activities of the client in support of approximately 250 users and 250 endpoints and servers. Client infrastructure, services, and applications are largely onsite or on-premises solutions.
This resource maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals. Typical client systems include a mix of desktops and laptops, and many of the following functions, including but not limited to jail management systems, booking, court records systems, computer aided dispatch, payroll, appraisal district systems, tax and records, financial systems, remote access systems, and other relevant local government systems.This resource will work under the direction of the client's Information Services Director and should be able to maintain close working relationships with client employees and department heads.
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
- Install and configure computer software, hardware, and peripheral equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware issues quickly and efficiently.
- Set up computers and other office equipment for employees.
- Provide steps to help internal users resolve technical problems.
- Maintain technical support procedures and reports.
- Create accounts for new users and assist with password or login problems.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of knowledge of the practices, principles, and techniques of computer operations.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the support of computers, in the use of applicable programs and systems, and in troubleshooting information systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- User/Account management and creation.
- Knowledge of computer re-imaging, configuration, and deployment.
