POSITION SUMMARY: The Home Visitor will provide parenting information, resources, and support to highly stressed parents as a member of the Relief Nursery team at A Family Place. This involves providing intensive home visiting services, group facilitation as needed, and also being a lead staff member in providing regular respite opportunities for families. Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a full-time position at 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours per week) which requires the ability to work some evening hours.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Complete and document regular home visits based on a schedule mutually agreed upon by each family and the Home Visitor, in coordination with supervisor
● Maintain a caseload of families
● Incorporate research-based parenting education into home visits
● Utilize the Growing Great Kids/Growing Great Families curriculum to engage families in parent-child activities, facilitate positive attachment, promote early childhood mental health and protective factors
● Assist families to identify and achieve parenting, personal, and/or child goals
● Complete home visit documentation, required evidence-based screenings, and other required paperwork in a timely manner and with accuracy to meet the standards of Relief Nursery
● Provide referrals to necessary community resources, and advocate for the family’s needs and interests
● Maintain open, positive communication and promote individual/group problem-solving skills with children, families, co-workers, and the community
● Apply principles of diversity, equity, and racial justice for all families
● Apply principles of the least restrictive environment for children with disabilities

● Requires strict adherence to HIPAA standards in the office workspace to ensure confidentiality
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. At least two years of lived expertise/experience in an early childhood program working with children and families, including home visitation and/or parenting education, or equivalent college coursework, is required. Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Approaches/Care, Adverse Childhood Experiences, substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and learning difficulties is preferred. Experience working with young parents, rural populations, and multi-stressed families is preferred. Step 8 or higher in ORO is preferred. Exceptions may be made in conjunction with a Professional Development Plan. Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: A current clearance from the Central Background Registry or the ability to obtain CBR clearance is required. Ability to obtain current pediatric CPR & First Aid, Oregon Food Handler’s Card, Annual Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse, and Neglect training within the first 6 months of hire. Must have a current driver’s license, car insurance, and access to a vehicle.
