LSSI is hiring a full-time Staff Assistant Peer Support Specialist, Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 3:00pm. Uses GTL to correspond with incarcerated individuals and assist in preparing for the transition to the re-entry program. Support the participants of the re-entry program in re-acclimating to living in the community and finding employment and housing. Assist in establishing services in the community and transportation to appointments.

Essential Functions:
- Serve as a role model by sharing personal recovery experiences to provide hope and encouragement.
- Offer emotional support and empowerment to individuals in recovery.
- Promote self-advocacy, independence, and wellness strategies.
- Help develop individualized recovery plans and set achievable goal.
- Assists primary staff assistant with assisting substance use counselors, mental health counselors, and peer support with scheduling appointments, makes reminder phone calls, and enters appointments into Carelogic.
- Opens clients when scheduled for intakes, prepares paperwork, schedules DUI evaluations and updates, and corresponds with referral sources.
- Schedules DRE classes and writes tickets as clients present for services.
- Assists with signing up for community events and preparing materials to be taken to community events.
- Faxes, emails, records requests.
- Enters information for Drug testing, prints labels for drug testing, and organizes drug testing daily. Responsible for all filing.
- Scores ASUDS and SAQ tests, answers phone calls, responsible for all monies collected and payments received, and other office duties as they arise.
- Responsible for answering incoming phone calls and making reminder phone calls.
- Enters client demographics into Carelogic and initial information when scheduling intake.
- Responsible for scheduling appointments.
- Responsible for payments collected.
- Correspond through GTL with incarcerated individuals.
- Work with the Re-entry team.
- Responsible for responding to records requests.
- Corresponding with referral sources.
- Corresponding with Illinois Department of Corrections Counselors, attending IDOC summits.
Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- CRSS or CRPS REQUIRED.
- Excellent communication, organization, presentation and pc/computer skills (including proficiency with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) along with other related software.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Must have auto insurance.
