Job Overview: Lynntech is seeking an experienced and creative Research Engineer with expertise in running finite element analyses (FEA) using the finite element method (FEM) for structural and thermal modeling, conducting multiphysics modeling of systems with coupled physical interdependencies, and conducting computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. Our mission is to solve real problems in defense, aerospace, medical, and energy markets by developing and commercializing world-class technologies and products.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize innovative solutions beginning with early design concepts, and continuing through detailed designs with potential for commercial products.
  • Prepare high-quality grant proposals to fund the research and development to realize these conceptual solutions.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams within and outside Lynntech to develop and mature concepts into prototype systems.
  • Lead and mentor teams to achieve project goals.

Qualifications

Although passion for the work and the ability to learn and grow are the foremost requirement for employment at Lynntech, this position calls for additional specific qualifications described below.

Lynntech is hiring at both the Specialist and Senior level for this position. At either level, formal education and experience in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field is required.

  • Specialist Level: Master's degree (thesis preferred) with 1-3 years of research experience, or Bachelor's degree (undergraduate student research experience preferred) with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Senior Level: PhD degree (with or without industry experience) or Master's degree (thesis preferred) with 5 years of experience.

In addition to formal education and work experience described above, the following specific qualifications are required:

  • Strong understanding of physics and engineering principles applied to design, analysis, modeling, and testing.
  • Experience in areas like structural mechanics, thermal and fluid systems, electromagnetics, thermodynamics, materials, manufacturing, vibration and acoustics, and control system design.
  • Proficiency in multiphysics computational modeling and numerical analysis using tools such as PTC Creo, COMSOL, MATLAB/Simulink, or Mathematica. (Proficiency with general-purpose programming languages is a plus.)
  • Educational background in engineering design and computational modeling, or related experience.
