Controller
The Controller will serve as a strategic financial leader, overseeing all aspects of financial management, reporting, and compliance. This role will be instrumental in driving business growth by providing financial insights, optimizing operational efficiencies, and ensuring sound fiscal policies. The Controller will collaborate with executive leadership to develop financial strategies that support the company’s long-term goals while maintaining strong internal controls and financial integrity.
Location: This position will work on-site in Maryville, TN.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee and manage all financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring adherence to GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly financial forecasts, providing variance analysis and actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Lead the budgeting process, setting performance goals, tracking KPIs, and driving cost efficiencies.
Strategic Advisory & Business Growth
- Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership, providing financial insights and recommendations for business growth and operational improvements.
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost reduction, and process optimization.
- Develop financial models to assess new business initiatives, capital investments, and expansion strategies.
- Support strategic decision-making by analyzing market trends, competitive landscapes, and business risks.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Optimization
- Manage cash flow, ensuring the company maintains adequate liquidity to meet operational and strategic needs.
- Optimize working capital by improving collections, managing payables, and negotiating favorable credit terms.
- Oversee banking relationships, securing financing options, and negotiating terms and conditions.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and industry standards.
- Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Monitor credit risks and implement strategies to minimize financial exposure.
- Maintain proper documentation and reporting to mitigate legal and financial risks.
Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement
- Conduct ongoing reviews of financial processes, identifying inefficiencies and implementing streamlined solutions.
- Oversee inventory reconciliations and ensure proper controls are in place.
- Leverage ERP and financial management software to improve reporting, forecasting, and decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- Proven experience as a Controller or senior financial leader, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting principles.
- Experience advising business leaders on financial strategies and operational improvements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and data analysis.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and mentoring finance teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- Preferred background in manufacturing
