Summary
Motivational One is seeking a compassionate and motivated clinician to support and guide a team of peer coaches working in substance abuse recovery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behavioral health and addiction theory and service provision, with a passion for empowering individuals in their process of recovery. This role involves conducting initial biopsychosocial evaluations, completing treatment plans, providing individual and group therapy, providing clinical oversight, training, and collaborative support to peer coaches as they assist clients in achieving and maintaining recovery goals.
This position includes hybrid supervision responsibilities, leading group sessions onsite, and requires a balance of office-based and remote duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight:
· Provide clinical oversight to peer coaches, ensuring they deliver services effectively and ethically.
· Review and provide feedback on adherence to treatment plans, client engagement and interventions, and the documentation thereof.
· Monitor compliance with clinical and organizational policies.
Training and Development:
· Facilitate training sessions for peer coaches on topics like motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care, and documentation.
· Support peer coaches in developing skills to navigate complex client needs.
Collaboration and Support:
· Act as a resource for peer coaches in managing challenging cases.
· Coordinate with community partners and treatment teams to provide holistic client support.
· Foster a positive, collaborative team environment.
In-Office Responsibilities:
· Supervise peer coaches during scheduled in-office hours.
· Lead group therapy or support sessions in-office to provide direct client care.
Documentation and Reporting:
· Ensure accurate and timely documentation.
· Provide reports on peer coaching program outcomes to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education and Licensing:
· Must hold a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or marriage and family therapy. Addiction certification in the form of a CAS, MAC, or LAC is desirable.
· Active or provisional Colorado clinical license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or LSW, LPCC) required.
Experience:
· A minimum of 1 year of experience in substance abuse treatment or recovery services.
· Working knowledge of peer coaching principles or previous experience working with peer coaches or recovery support programs is a plus.
Required Skills
· Strong understanding of addiction theory and behavior, approaches to recovery, and harm reduction principles.
· Experience completing initial biopsychosocial evaluations and treatment plans
· Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
· Proficiency in electronic health records and documentation practices.
· Knowledge of motivational interviewing, engagement strategies, co-occurring disorders, stages of change theory, and community resources.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and fundamental typing skills necessary.
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, be detail oriented, and willing and able to respond to a crisis situation and be ‘on call.’
· Has an understanding and working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and practices.
Other Skills/Qualifications
· Certification in addiction counseling (CAC II or higher) preferred.
· Familiarity with Colorado’s recovery resources and systems.
· Experience working with diverse populations and culturally informed care.
· Ability to provide services or refer to resources which assist/enrich the client and clients’ family members if applicable.
· Understanding of and open-mindedness about multiple paths to recovery.
· Ability to focus on and provide strengths-based support and treatment.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift and transport materials/supplies to health fairs, presentations and/or other public forums.
Equipment Used
Computer, Copier/Fax/Printer, Multi-line Telephone System, Movable Shelving system.
Work Environment
· Combination of in-office and remote.
· Flexible scheduling may be required to accommodate client and team needs.
· Flexible hours include some weekends, evenings, and holidays on a crisis basis.
· Travel may be required.
