Overview
The Master Scheduler aspect of this role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing production schedules to ensure timely and efficient manufacturing operations. This role coordinates with multiple departments, including production, planning, quality, and sales, to ensure that materials, labor, and resources are allocated effectively. They will work closely with the various teams to address any constraints, improve lead times, and achieve on-time delivery for all products.
The Data Analytics aspect of this role is responsible for analyzing manufacturing data to identify trends, improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and support continuous improvement initiatives. They will work closely with operations, quality control, and sales to drive insights and actionable recommendations that contribute to the optimization of our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Production Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain a detailed production schedule to ensure alignment with customer demand and business goals.
- Coordinate with production teams to optimize machine usage and labor resources to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
- Adjust production schedules in response to changes in demand, inventory levels, or any disruptions in production.
Resource Planning:
- Collaborate with purchasing to ensure the timely availability of materials, components, and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with purchasing to address any material shortages or excess stock.
- Ensure that production resources (equipment, labor, etc.) are available as needed and optimize their utilization.
Capacity Management:
- Analyze production capacity against demand forecasts to ensure manufacturing operations meet required output levels.
- Identify capacity constraints and collaborate with leadership to implement solutions, such as process improvements or additional shifts.
Production Optimization:
- Continuously evaluate production processes and schedules to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Use data-driven analysis to enhance workflow, reduce waste, and optimize production lead times.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to ensure manufacturing processes adhere to quality standards.
Communication & Coordination:
- Provide regular updates to management on production status, potential delays, and key performance metrics.
- Communicate any changes or updates to the production schedule to all relevant teams.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, production efficiency, and resource utilization.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management regarding production scheduling performance and related metrics.
Systems Data Mastery:
- Possess mastery and leadership over Machine Sciences' ERP system, understanding inputs and implications
- Pursue new methods of interaction with the ERP system to increase its value to the organization
- Consistently show up as a systems thinker, always looking for holistic and durable solutions rather than one-time fixes
- Be the go-to team member for all things ERP-related
Financial Analysis:
- Adeptly extract valuable data leading to better decisions for our customers and our company
- Provide reporting and feedback to stakeholders
- Exhibit curiosity and thoughtful pursuit of anomalies in data and financial ramifications. Be a person who "tugs on the thread" to uncover findings that guide key decisions moving forward
- Engage in analyses at the request of management, guiding requests and needs from ambiguity to clear methods
Scorecard Ownership:
- Own the Machine Sciences Scorecard, a daily and weekly live report of business health, efficiency, opportunities for improvement, and more
Creative Problem Solving
- Find non-standard solutions to a schedule that can be full of competing priorities. This may look like cross-functional collaboration, thoughtful question-asking, or a variety of other methods.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in production scheduling, manufacturing operations, or supply chain management.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, inventory control, and resource planning.
- Proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and scheduling tools.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of advanced scheduling systems and techniques.
