Job Summary
The Transmission Project Manager (TPM) manages all aspects of transmission project orders. Most duties will occur after contract signing and through final delivery. The TPM reports to the Transmission Commercial Sales Manager and offices in Ft. Mill, SC. While the TPM has no direct reports, the TPM must get others to provide the various contracted deliverables, such as drawings, test plans, labels, and proper packing. Light travel is required between Ft. Mill and York, SC (car, est. 10%) and Ft. Mill and Alabaster, AL (car or air, overnight stay, est. 10%) to ensure the plants understand and are executing on the deliverables. Other occasional travel (est. 5%) may be necessary for training, conferences, or to help secure large projects.
Job Duties
Maintains awareness of transmission projects being quoted and contributes early planning ideas
Has full understanding of the order requirements/specifications, and reviews orders to ensure all pre- and post-bid deliverables have been understood by Transmission Team, are doable by the plants, have been properly clarified and communicated to the customer in the bid stage, and have been properly priced and scheduled before the order is accepted and order acknowledgement is returned
Creates and uses mapping to track and keep all projects on schedule (Gannt Chart, Microsoft Project)
Tracks project progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, or other performance indicators, and prepares weekly reports to management
Tracks, collates, completes, and submits to the customer all necessary deliverables (e.g., test plans, test reports, drawings, forms, and bills of lading) in the manner, method, and timing required
Interacts professionally with customers via phone, email, and in-person if needed.
Interacts professionally with MacLean factories and travels to York, SC and Alabaster, AL as needed to ensure quantities, packaging, labeling, and shipping are following project specifications
Leads project kickoff meetings to ensure all stakeholders are aligned on expectations and deliverables
Uses Salesforce to track open opportunities, and ensures potential projects are accurately documented, monitored, and transitioned after order entry and through execution
Conducts project post-mortems and lessons-learned reviews to improve future project execution and quoting accuracy
Organizes, maintains, and stores documentation on company servers for easy access and safekeeping
Supports continuous improvement initiatives within the Transmission Team by identifying process inefficiencies and recommending solutions.
Helps transmission quotations and pursuits teams review new opportunities as needed
Adheres to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
Follows all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Experience and Education
Technical, Analytical, or Managerial Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience with project planning, logistics, freight, or warehousing a plus
Knowledge of the electric utility industry a plus
Experience reading technical drawings and specifications a plus
Experience managing others a plus
