Overview
Reporting directly to the Construction Supervisor, the Construction Assistant is a key member of the team and the liaison between construction-focused grantors, contractors, our accounting firm, and Macomb Habitat.
Minimum Requirements

- Possess excellent customer service skills
- Possess a minimum of a High School diploma
- Secure legal documentation of becoming a notary
Additional Skills that would be useful
- Possess some general knowledge of real estate, code compliance, worksite safety, assisting with new/rehab construction, and critical home repairs.
Primary Duties/Responsibilites
- Construct a matrix which outlines each Habitat project from beginning to end. This includes home builds, home renovations, critical home repairs, ramps and all HFHM projects.
- Work within established time boundaries that define each project.
- Research and/or procure data on comparable sold homes and follow-up on transfers to verify that properties are properly recorded.
- Secure multiple quotes from construction companies and construction items used in the building or rehabbing of a house.
- Place orders with Lowe's, Home Depot, and other sites.
- Multi-task projects and priorities in the Shelby ReStore and home.
- Oversee the compliance facet of each project.
- Anticipate the needs of the construction supervisor for each project.
- File all construction-related paperwork and manage the detailed booklet and document that must be submitted for all government homes.
- Work with Habitat for Humanity Michigan and their programs, Veteran PHR program and any other grant funded projects.
- Assist finance dept. in tracking of HFHM deposits and contractor payments.
- Ensure Certificates of Insurance for all labor contractors for annual insurance audit.
- Complete Competent Person certification annually for compliance with Habitat for Humanity International
- Participate in all mandatory staff meetings and events.
- Participate in various other tasks that may arise in the course of assisting the Construction Manager.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
