Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Fiber-Optic Splicing and Testing Technician for our client in Vancouver, WA. The successful candidate will perform fusion splicing and testing of micro fiber-optic cables in an FTTH network. This role ensures the network is fully operational by verifying signal quality and documenting results for project completion.
Shift: M-F 8-5pm
Pay: $20-30/hr DOE
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform fusion splicing of micro fiber-optic cables in handholes or other designated splice points.
- Conduct testing using OTDR, power meters, and other equipment to verify splice quality and signal performance.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with splices or signal loss, making repairs as needed.
- Document splicing and testing results, including OTDR traces and power meter readings, for project records.
- Coordinate with the micro fiber installation crew to resolve any cable placement issues.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations during all splicing and testing activities.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in fiber-optic splicing and testing, with expertise in fusion splicing
- Proficiency with OTDR, power meters, and fusion splicing equipment
- Knowledge of micro fiber-optic cables and FTTH network standards (specific to your project).
- Ability to work in outdoor and confined spaces, including handholes, for extended periods.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret test results and troubleshoot issues.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
- Certification in fiber-optic splicing (e.g., FOA CFOT) preferred
- OSHA 10 preferred
