Middle School Youth Resource Center Program Leader - Summer 2025
Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50 fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.
As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!
Program Description:
MSCR offers the Youth Resource Centers (YRC) to students attending MMSD Summer Semester in the morning. The program operates Monday through Thursday from 12:00-4:00pm and Friday between 8:00am and 4:00pm. The YRC program offers participants a variety of recreational and enrichment activities, including kayaking, swimming, high ropes, science, art, music, drama, etc. as well as weekly field trips.
Job Description & Duties:
Supervise, plan and facilitate recreation and enrichment activities for Middle School youth, both inside school buildings and outdoors, including but not limited to, kayaking, sports, swimming, nature exploration, weekly fieldtrips, science, crafts, music, drama, ect. Program leaders are responsible for enforcing school rules and policies and creating a welcoming, positive, safe environment for students. Other duties as assigned
Start Date: Mandatory paid training on June 16, 2025 - June 20, 2025 with program beginning June 23, 2025.

- East High School - 2222 East Washington Ave.
- LaFollette High School - 702 Pflaum Rd.
- West High School - 30 Ash St.
- Memorial High School - 201 S. Gammon Rd
Hours/week: 28-35
Work hours: 11:30am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-4:30pm on Fridays
Payrate: 15.00 - 16.40 /hour
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to lead middle school aged youth from diverse backgrounds in a variety of engaging activities
- Ability to interact and communicate with youth in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to work as a team
- Ability to arrive at work on-time for all scheduled shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong is a plus.
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Lifeguard certification
