We are looking for a Desktop Engineer with a strong technical background to support, maintain, and optimize our company's desktop environment. In addition to providing excellent desktop support, the ideal candidate will have exposure to cybersecurity principles and practices, ensuring a secure, efficient, and reliable end-user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on support for desktop hardware and software, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Ensure the smooth operation of end-user devices, such as desktops, laptops, and peripherals, in both office and remote environments.
- Manage software deployments, updates, and patches across desktop systems.
- Maintain user profiles, access controls, and configurations, ensuring compliance with internal security policies.
- Collaborate with the IT security team to identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks related to desktop environments.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives by configuring firewalls, anti-virus software, and ensuring proper endpoint security.
- Assist with troubleshooting and remediating security vulnerabilities on desktop systems.
- Perform regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with security best practices and organizational policies.
- Respond to helpdesk tickets and provide timely resolutions for hardware and software issues.
- Participate in cybersecurity training and stay current with the latest security trends and threats.
- Document system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and cybersecurity protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in desktop support, including hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, and Linux) and desktop management tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune).
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, such as encryption, access controls, and secure communication protocols.
- Experience with endpoint protection solutions, including antivirus, firewall, and device encryption.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
