Purpose: Coordinates the daily activities of the Production Team to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency while developing a team environment. Leadership to include continuous improvement of people, process and products. Ensures product quality by utilizing statistical methods to control production processes. Provides for a safe work environment through proper training and communications.
Responsibilities
- Have exemplary personal conduct that demonstrates integrity, commitment, judgement and courtesy to all co-workers, customers and vendors
- Be a “Champion” of safe work behaviors through:
- Exemplary personal safety habits
- Stringent enforcement of Safety Rules and Procedures
- Regular performance of safety audits for all areas of control. Audits are then used as a basis for coaching associates on safe work habits.
- Ensure all associates receive required safety training and attend scheduled safety meetings
- Use of Team Meetings to discuss pertinent information, “Tool Box” meetings are also considered.
- Assume responsibility for tasks with regards to team members for the following:
- Monitor and manage timekeeping records and vacation usage for all employees on shift.
- Ensure new hires are appropriately trained in good manufacturing practices (GMP), quality standards and machine operations.
- Perform timely Performance Reviews for direct reports with properly identified strengths, improvement opportunities and career development initiatives.
- Administer and document disciplinary action as necessary with input from Operations Manager and Human Resources Manager.
- Participates in all phases of new hire selection and advancements.
- Provides atmosphere that fosters open, honest communication within team, with other teams and across departments.
- Motivates team members to produce products that meet or exceeds customer expectations by:
- Using sound statistical methods
- Ensuring team members have appropriate training and coaching in statistical methods
- Communicating with Process Engineering and Quality personnel on customer specifications and needs
- Motivates team members to perform at or above expected levels of productivity by:
- Coordinating team activities that support plant and company goals
- Staffing equipment as appropriate for the work level
- Facilitating problem solving efforts of the team
- Works with Maintenance and Process Engineering Departments to establish operational “Best Practices”
- Contacts appropriate resources to communicate issues and receive direction for persistent problems
- Takes actions to control emergency situations and ensures appropriate management personnel are notified
Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years’ front line leadership experience.
- Plastics manufacturing environment preferred.
- Proven experience successfully coaching, training and leading teams.
- Good math skills, the ability to lead, process knowledge, problem solving skills and strong interpersonal communication skills.
