Summary
MHIR is strategically expanding to enhance its success in biomedical and health research. We are fostering stronger partnerships between research and clinical care, while growing our portfolio across basic science, translational research, health services, implementation science, clinical research, and population health outcomes. To support this expansion, we are actively seeking faculty candidates at various levels—Faculty Scientist I (Assistant Professor), Faculty Scientist II (Associate Professor), and Faculty Scientist III (Professor). Advanced degrees (MD, DO, PhD) are required for these positions which are expected to be filled over the next 6-18 months. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
We are seeking expansion along a spectrum of research, but not limited to these areas of focus:
- Metabolic health and disease
- Rural health access and delivery, health disparities, community healthcare delivery
- Cardiovascular disease
- Social and environmental drivers of health
- Implementation science
- Cancer control, behavioral and psychosocial oncology, survivorship and quality of life, quality of care/ health services research
- Autism spectrum disorder, associated sleep disorders, and therapeutic mindfulness interventions
- Genomics, clinical neuroscience and neurology, aging, neurodegenerative diseases, and neurodevelopmental disorders
- Infectious diseases, anti-microbial resistance, emerging pathogens and vector-borne diseases
Faculty Scientist I: should have post-doctoral experience relevant for their area of study. Criteria for evaluation include research productivity, peer reviewed scientific publications, and potential/early evidence for independent research funding.
Faculty Scientist II:should have obtained independent research funding and demonstrated a track record of peer reviewed publications and recognition in their field. Experience with teaching and mentorship of interns, students, trainees, and junior faculty is required. Contributions to the research community through service, education, and leadership are highly desired.
Faculty Scientist III:should have an established track record of research funding and national recognition in their field. They must have a consistent and active record of peer-reviewed publications and demonstrated experience and interest in mentoring early-career faculty and trainees. A well-rounded education/teaching portfolio is a plus. Successful candidates will also demonstrate excellent management skills, leadership, and mentorship, participating in institutional and national scientific service. Senior faculty recruits with expertise in clinical and translational science, as well as administrative leadership experience, have an opportunity to be considered for a leadership position at MHIR.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education: Doctoral Degree in a relevant biomedicine discipline required.
- Experience: Four years of experience as a Faculty Scientist II (or Assist Prof) required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Faculty Scientist II role.
- Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: First or Senior author publications in major peer reviewed journals. Evidence of national and international recognition in selected field as demonstrated by invited presentations at national and international meetings and invited reviews for major biomedical publications. Service on national study sections. Invitations to service or chair program committees for national and international meetings. Election or appointment to leadership positions in national or international professional societies. Evidence of significant mentorship and teaching accomplishments and institutional citizenship.
