What are the responsibilities and job description for the HCV Intake Assistant position at Maine State Housing Authority?
Primary Purpose of Position: The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Intake Assistant is responsible for assisting with the various tasks associated with the HCV Program.
Core Functions:
- Assist in the administration of the HCV Program
o Answer client calls through a call distribution line
o Process applications in the Centralized Wait List and Elite database
o Check the HCV information email inbox and provide information as needed to clients
- Assist in offering vouchers to eligible participants as funding permits
o Review household information packet and verify income, assets and expenses
o Obtain signatures on appropriate documents
o Assist in the preparation of tenant briefings
- Recertify participating tenants
o Review household information packet and verify income, assets and expenses
o Obtain signatures on appropriate documents
- Support the HCV team
o Assist other MaineHousing departments in certifying tenant information
o Perform certified, restricted, and UPS mailings
o File and scan documents
o Sort and distribute mail
- Assist in the application process for the Family Unification Program (FUP), Veteran Affairs Supporting Housing (VASH), Home to Stay Program (HTS), and Stability through Engagement Program (STEP) Programs
o Review incoming application packets for accuracy and completeness
o Set up file folders
o Set up eligibility or ineligibility correspondence for signature and distribution
- Attend related seminars, workshops, and trainings as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions: Fast paced environment with multiple priorities, interruptions & deadlines. MaineHousing office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Reports To: HCV Programs Manager
Supervises: no one
The starting hourly rate for the position is $18.7798 ($39,062 annually), plus a comprehensive benefits package, including, but not limited to, health, dental and vision, retirement options with employer match, life insurance, short and long-term disability, employee assistance, generous earned time and all major federal holidays. Employment is eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Requirements:Education and Experience: Education and a minimum of two years housing administration, experience or a combination of four years education and experience preferred.
Certifications:
- Housing Inspection Training (within 12 month of hire)
