What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Manager position at Maine State Music Theatre?
HOUSE MANAGER
- Dates: May 1, 2, & 3 for Usher training and f/t Tues May 20 or 27 – Sun Aug 24 (dates could change)
- Pay: $900.00 a week, exempt salaried position
- Location: Brunswick, ME - Housing not provided.
Primary Responsibilities Essential functions include (but are not limited to):
- Seating all audience members at all performances
- Seeing to the general well-being and satisfaction of Audience Members
- Seeing that the Audience has properly vacated the facility
- Developing a volunteer staff of assistants, ushers, etc. for the Front of House
- Managing and scheduling the volunteer staff of ushers for every performance
- Handling emergencies and calling for emergency help
- Working in the Box Office as scheduled
- Creating ticket count reports per performance for the Managing Director
- Assisting with the daily operations of the concession stand as needed
- Adhere to the MSMT Safety protocols and all other applicable MSMT policies & procedures
- Motivate with a positive and respectful attitude
- Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
- Additional duties as assigned by the Audience Services Manager and/or the MSMT Annual Staff
Qualifications
The following skills and experience are required:
- Customer service skills
- A proactive and positive attitude
- Basic computer & word-processing literacy
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
- Able to work independently and as a team player
- Must be available to work Nights and weekends
- Detail-oriented; able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing
-Ability to regularly move and lift 30-50 lbs. All positions involve lifting and moving cumbersome boxes, packages, equipment, etc.
WORK WEEK and HOURS
-MSMT’s work week is Monday through Sunday
-Full and Part-time hours available
-All positions will work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required per department
EXEMPT and HOURLY POSITIONS
-Hourly positions are non-exempt and are eligible for overtime
-Salaried positions are exempt and will not receive overtime
